The Making of a Figure

Process oriented pictures and description of one of my latest works, Homo Apis that is presently exhibited in a juried show. I am posting it here because I think it's informative in relation to the entire creative process.

I tried to look:

Re: The Making of a Figure

Sorry, Sue, I don't know what is the problem, it loads for me...
Try to search in Facebook pages for Papier Mache Sculpture by Erika Takacs, it should come up. Under "Photos" there is an album dedicated to "A work in progress..."

Re: The Making of a Figure

The link worked for me ...  Great series of photos, Erika.  I love the boots detail!  Incredible.  What did you use for the shoelaces?  Is that a thin strip of cloth, or did you actually get your paper mache to do that?

You are a master!

Re: The Making of a Figure

Bmaskmaker, I'm glad the link works, thanks for the feedback. The shoelaces are made of paper pulp, as everything else.

"The shoelaces are made of paper pulp, as everything else."     Good gracious.  That is very skilled.

David says 'good gracious' ... my initial thought was Holy Crap! ... (at least that's the least profane) ...

That's Amazing Erika!  Really phenomenal work.  Thanks for sharing.  I loved this series of photos.  I know it's a pain to take pictures while you're working ... but I love to see your building process.  I hadn't heard of the black aluminum foil either.  Great to know.

Thank you for your nice comments.
dktotz, I really don't know what's going on, some can view it, and some cannot...however you might wanna try a search on Fb Pages for Papier Mache Sculpture by Erika Takacs, and check the albums for "A work in Progress".

Re: The Making of a Figure

I suspect the reason I can't see your facebook page is because I don't belong to facebook.

But your website and blog are WONDERFUL!  Beautiful work!  I simply love your realistic portraits, esp the lady with the headscarf.

Don't worry about dktotz, he's just a spammer.  His posts are gone now.

Re: The Making of a Figure

Oh, yes, you have to have a Facebook account in order to view anything posted on Fb. Thanks for clarifying that, Sue! and thanks for liking my grandmother's portrait, I think I put all (and more!) that I had at the time.
