Re: Refined and beautifully colourful papier mache

Welcome, Hilary.  I'm glad you found the site and posted the video of your work.  It is a well made video interview and shows your work and method really clearly.  I don't think you have a gallery on this site as yet but hopefully that will come soon.
Have you tried the pulp without sawdust?  You might find that you can get a much smoother finish and not have to use gesso.  Try laying the pulp between two sheets of strong plastic and rolling it out to a really thin layer (down to 2mm e.g.) and then laying it on your former.  Presumably you have found a source of ground chalk/whiting.  In general, whiting as a decorating medium has been discontinued and many members of this site's (huge) fraternity find it difficult to find ground chalk.  Can I ask where you get yours?

Those are stunning! I wish i could finish my work as beautifully.
how cool to be featured on (I'm guessing) a television program.
Just awesome!

What a great idea to put your video on YouTube. This site got a mention on the BBC's "Click Online" programme a few years back. Russ has just put it on YouTube - I don't know why we haven't done it before but better late than never!

The site looks a little different - it was filmed before our re-designing. smile Russ will add the link to our "media mentions" page (link is right at the bottom of this page). http://www.papiermache.co.uk/media/

I wish I could watch videos.  All I can see are a series of still photos.

That must be really frustrating for you Sue! There are some wonderful cat & dog videos on YouTube. (Real ones, not papier mache) smile
