I can't claim this to be all my own work. This shoe was designed by my son for a school project to be made from recycled materials. The original design was to have had legs but during construction it was obvious that these would create a stability issue and so we decided that caterpillar tracks would be a suitable substitute. Although my son built it I took a more consultative role and assisted with the more difficult bits. The main body is made up of pulp (newspaper, water and rice flour). During drying a furry mould built up on the inside but due to an error it was left inside the bottom oven of my Rayburn all day and cooked at about 70 deg C. When it was discovered the whole shoe had baked and had turned brown and very hard. The mould was destroyed, and after covering in stretched recycled paper kitchen towel soaked on with rice flour glue, it was ready for painting. The tracks are made from single layer corrugated card and bottled water tops. The tail is made from yoghurt pot plastic and the eyes glass marbles.
