Well, I imagine that dragons can probably digest things that would kill a human. In Dungeons & Dragons, the various species eat all sorts of weird things, even gem stones. Biologically speaking, there are real world organisms that acquire their toxicity by ingesting poisonous foodstuffs and building up the toxins in their body, so, your dragon getting poison bumps from mushrooms is actually plausible from a scientific standpoint.

Adorable dragon, and I love its basket full of goodies--I just hope that mushroom isn't a poisonous one!

Mark, this IS a poisonous mushroom! He's just chewing a mouthful of it, maybe that's the reason why he's got all those dark bumps on his skin ...
