Welcome to my papier maché showroom, which I have divided into 4 categories: boxes, clocks, bowls and miscellaneous. (Click the pictures above to enter the showroom.)
I have been working with papier maché since mid 1990's, and find that it offers endless creative possibilities. It looks great whether the style is fun, kitsch or polished and refined. The structure of the material gives each item its unique character.
Papier maché is cheap to work with since the principal material is recycled newspaper and cardboard. All you have to do to get started is to buy some wallpaper glue, white glue and paint, and add a good portion of patience.
There are no rules of "how to do" papier mâché, only some useful advices and guidelines. In my opinion, the best teacher is trial and error. That is how you create your own personal style.
The books that inspired me in the beginning were Susanne Haines' Papier Mâché and PAPIER MÂCHÉ STYLE by Alex MacCormick.
