Part of a series inspired by Moby Dick, so this is a sperm whale. The armature is mostly steel rod with some fibreglass reinforcement at the critical points. I really wanted driftwood for the base but the big bits are hard to come by; this old bit of railway sleeper used to prop up part of an outbuilding, and after sandblasting was perfect for the job. The whale itself can be carried by one person, but the base is really heavy and gives the necessary stability.
